Laura Novosad is running for election so that the Collier and Hendry citizens of House District 80 finally get the dynamic, energetic and honest representation they deserve.  Growing up, going to school, working and raising a family in Florida for 57 years, she brings a rich mix of business, educational, and civic experience to the job.

Her educational background includes teaching special ed at Sable Palm Elementary and elsewhere (BA in Special Education from FGCU) and serving as a Religious Education Teacher at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greater Naples, where she was also Board Member.

Laura joined the business community in 2010 as a Realtor; she works at present with Premier Plus Reality Company in Fort Myers.

Committed to preserving Florida’s unique environment, Laura brought her dedication and managerial skills to the Rookery Bay National Estuary, where as Volunteer Coordinator she managed over 300 volunteers.

A love of democracy and service to others have followed Laura throughout her life, from working with the Girl Scouts and the PTA to being a Gulf Coast High School Band mom.  A lifelong Democrat and donor, she was a founding member and then President of the Democratic Women’s Club of Hendry County.  Laura draws her sense of responsibility and democratic engagement from her family, in particular her uncle Richard Pettigrew, of Miami-Dade County, who served both as Speaker of the Florida House and as a State Senator.

Laura has been married for 38 years to her loving husband Richard Novosad; together they have two children.

Laura has resided in District 80 for the last 22 years, both in Naples and now in LaBelle. This has given her valuable insights into the needs and interests of different communities in the district.  She is ready to harness those insights to her strong work ethic and bring honest representation to the citizens of District 80.

"DECF mission: To preserve, protect and enhance Florida’s natural resources."

Dr. Jennifer Boddiker

"Laura Novosad knows the issues on the ground. As a realtor she appreciates the necessity of preserving Florida's natural beauty for current and future residents, in terms of lifestyle, economy, and livability. She cares deeply about public health, jobs, education, gun law reform, and the health of our waterways. I have full confidence that Laura is the right person for the job, and will be a fierce advocate for District 80 residents."

Dr. Jennifer Boddicker, former Democratic Candidate for FL HD 80

"Your mix of life experiences makes you a strong candidate!"   Gretchen Fodor

"I personally know Laura. She is enthusiastic, hard working and a great leader. She will be a great Democratic leader in the house in Tallahassee." Victoria Avellaneda

I am particularly pleased that the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida has endorsed me.  From its beginning in 1956, this important group has served as a forum bringing Florida’s critical issues to the forefront.  In the tradition inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt the DWCF promotes women’s rights and encourages women to seek elected office.  As a founding member and current President of the Hendry County Democratic Women’s Club, I am honored and proud to stand with Democratic women throughout the State fighting to make our voices heard, fighting to make our communities better."

You are running for Florida House District 80 for all the right reasons. Your life experiences, credentials, and commitment to gun reform, education, agriculture, climate change, water quality, the environment, housing security AND MEDICAL SECURITY are impressive, and, I believe you are the right person to flip Florida House District 80.
